As mentioned before, I picked up Manga Studio Debut 3.0 to try out as I always wanted to try b/w using tones a la manga.
Unfortunately, not very happy with Manga as it doesn't have any pen tools! Going to have to play around with that.
However, I also picked up How to Draw Manga Computones with the accompanying CD, and thus you see the result
of watching too much Captain Harlock and Kim Possible.
Some observations:
- My hat is off to these people applying tones, it's hard and tedious work!!
- If you get Computones, make sure you don't put the second hyphen in the serial number or you won't be able to unlock it.
- The book could really do with more explanation on the processes, if you're not an experience Photoshop user, you're going
to run into problems.
Anyway, here's my first attempt at manga KP among the stars, looks like some of vintage Leiji Matsumoto comics from the '70s, eh?
It was a pain to do, but once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad. A lot of setting areas to fill
with tones, etc.
I guess I've been spoiled by Illustrator as it's so easy to define an area as opposed to Photoshop where
you end up having to convert your selection, etc, and so on and so forth...
I'll probably be trying this out a bit more, wonder how Ron would come out looking...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This is YOUR opportunity to mock, ridicule and generally take great delight and amusement whilst poking fun at the beloved Volunteers and Staff of deviantART.
